Muslim Wedding Photographer in Mumbai

The Wedding Film has photographed Muslim weddings across Mumbai for over four decades, from Bohra and Sunni ceremonies in South Mumbai's older neighbourhoods to grand walima receptions in the city's five-star banquet halls. Founded by Arif Mistry in 1986 and continued today by his son Zehran, we bring two generations of experience to a community whose ceremonies we know well: the nikah, the mangni, the mehndi night, the baraat, and the walima that follows.

A Muslim wedding is really a sequence of distinct events, each with its own rhythm, its own dress, its own light. We plan for that sequence rather than treating every Indian wedding as identical. That means being present quietly during the nikah so the moment of consent and the signing of the nikahnama are preserved without disturbing the ceremony, and being ready for the energy of a mehndi night or the formality of a walima reception the very next evening.

Photography That Understands the Occasion

Every community has customs a photographer needs to know before the day, not learn on it: where the women's and men's sections are seated and how to move between them respectfully, when the qazi begins the nikah and how long the ijab-o-qubul (offer and acceptance) takes, and how the mehr is typically documented as part of the nikahnama signing. We ask about these details in advance so nothing catches us by surprise and no moment is missed because we were in the wrong place.

We also understand modesty preferences that vary from family to family. Some brides want their bridal preparations photographed only by a woman on the team; some walima receptions keep photography closer to the stage and away from an open dance floor; some families want the men's baraat and women's ceremonies covered by two separate teams working in parallel. Tell us your preferences during the consultation and we build the coverage plan around them, not the other way round.

Our films team works alongside the photographers, so the same nikah, mehndi and walima are also available as a cinematic highlight film and a longer documentary edit, colour-graded to match your photographs into one consistent story.

Aisha & Rehan's wedding in Udaipur photographed by The Wedding Film
They captured our palace wedding exactly as it felt, grand yet intimate. Every time we open the album we notice a moment we didn't even know had happened. Truly artists.

From the sunrise temple ceremony to the reception, the team was invisible and everywhere at once. The photographs are heirlooms. We cannot recommend The Wedding Film enough.

We wanted honest, candid photos: no stiff poses. That's exactly what we got. The golden-hour beach images take our breath away every single time.

Everything You Might Be Wondering

A few questions couples ask us most about this specific service. Can't find yours? We're always happy to talk.

Yes. We have photographed Muslim weddings in Mumbai for over 40 years, across Sunni, Shia and Dawoodi Bohra families, and plan coverage around the nikah, mehr and nikahnama signing, the mehndi night, and the walima reception specifically, not a one-size-fits-all wedding template.
